Teaching Background   Developer Background

As a former lead instructor at Rithm School, I have taught and mentored over a hundred successful software engineers who have gone on to work at massive companies, tiny start-ups, and everything in-between. As a software engineer, I have mentored about a dozen junior engineers at various companies. Additionally, before I became a developer, I was also a music teacher and part-time college instructor for guitar, bass guitar, and music theory / composition.

I have been doing full-stack web development professionally for about seven years. I am currently a lead software engineer at a Y-Combinator startup, called Numero, which has the goal of making it dead simple for anyone to run for any political office. Past roles have included: senior dev at a small startup aiming to fix professional feedback systems; and a tech lead at an economic data company. As for my tech stack, on the frontend, I have been happily using React since 2013, while on the backend I am an expert on Node.js, Python / Flask, Ruby on Rails. I am a huge fan of TypeScript and GraphQL!

If you're not sure if you meet all of the prerequisites or have questions about whether to attend or not, feel free to email [email protected].

Both options are available! We will stream the live course via Zoom. Everyone in the course will have access to a private Slack channel that can be used to ask questions and chat with your peers / the instructor.

Workshops will be a live code-along with the instructor where we will get to build an app from scratch. There will be some slides and curriculum resources available that attendees will get access to at least 24 hours before the workshop and will then have permanent access to after the course.

Yes! There will be a lunch break from 12:30 to 1 PM. Attendees should bring their own lunch, although some small snacks will be provided (note that on weekends lunch options downtown are more limited). There will also be short breaks throughout as well as "code time".

Here we are on Google maps. We recommend taking public transit as we are less than a 10-minute walk from Montgomery / Embarcadeo stations, although parking availability is usually fine on weekends in the area. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in and get settled / set up with the WiFi, etc.

We understand that, sometimes, plans change. If you can no longer make it to a workshop please email us at least 7 days before the scheduled event date. No refunds will be given to cancellations made within a week of the class or workshop.
