Rithm School and Coronavirus: What you need to know

Summary

We are closely monitoring the development of the COVID-19 (Novel coronavirus). Based on recommendations and protocols established by the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local health departments in regard to COVID-19, we are taking the following steps to mitigate the risk to our community:

  1. Our campus will be closed starting Friday, March 13. In person classes for current students will be held remotely, and all our free events will be postponed.
  2. We will remain closed until further notice. We will continue to follow guidance from local and state health departments in order to keep our community safe.
  3. If you are currently interviewing for our in-person program, all interviews will be held remotely until further notice.
  4. We are still running classes, but until further notice, all of our classes are being held remotely.

Details

Our most important guiding principles at Rithm is to put the quality of the student experience first. This is why, out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to close our campus starting Friday, March 13.

This is not a decision we have reached lightly. However, out of an abundance of caution, and in keeping with trends in the Bay Area (the closure of SFUSD schools, widespread work from home recommendations, etc.), we feel strongly that this decision is in the best interests of our community.

At this time, we do not have any reason to believe that anyone in our community has been infected with the novel coronavirus. This closure is a preemptive action on our part. Should we discover that anyone in our community has been diagnosed with this virus, we will update this page as quickly as possible.

If you are a current Rithm student, your course schedule will continue uninterrupted, but online. We have already reached out to you regarding logistics, but please communicate with the staff if you have any questions or concerns.

If you are interviewing or admitted to a future cohort, please do not visit our campus. All future interviews will be held remotely. We do not currently plan to delay or cancel any future classes, but will updated you as soon as possible if our plans change.

In general, our plan is to continue teaching as normal, via remote tools such as Zoom. Our daily schedule will continue as normal.

Obviously, as an in-person program, we would prefer to keep our community together and in person. Unfortunately, this is simply too risky right now. However, we are confident that we can maintain our commitment to a high-quality educational experience even while we are not co-located with our students.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We will provide updates here, and via our mailing lists and social media accounts as the situation evolves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does anyone at Rithm have coronavirus?

At this point, we do not suspect that anyone in our community has contracted the novel coronavirus. We will update you as soon as possible if the situation changes.

Are classes cancelled?

No. Although our campus is shut down, we are still operating normally. Current classes are continuing as planned, and future cohorts will proceed uninterrupted. We will announce any change to our plans on this page.

If nobody in your community has the virus, why aren't you open?

At this point, it is clear that the only way to slow the spread of this virus is through social distancing. In order to help not overwhelm healthcare providers, we are taking aggressive steps to enforce social distancing within our community.

When will your campus be open again?

We don't currently have a timeline in place for re-opening our physical space. The layout of our school makes it difficult to open while still adhering to social distancing protocols. We will open as soon as it is safe for us to do so, and will update our community once we have a date in place.

We look forward to re-opening our campus as soon as we are confident that it is safe to do so. In the mean time, please stay healthy, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
